Supposed Fact:
You can tell what color eggs a chicken will lay by the color of their feathers.


To blow that supposed fact out of the water, all you have to do is look at a hatchery site or catalog, and see all the different color chickens that lay brown eggs… and all the different colors of chickens that lay white eggs!

Remembering Toby: The Later Years

They say that pictures are worth a thousand words, and in many ways I think that’s true. In my last post I had pictures of Toby that were taken from 2005 through 2009. You could see he was full of vim and vigor then, with running and jumping all the time.

He never lost his passion for carrying sticks or getting into water And he often made us laugh, which is a very precious commodity indeed. For instance, his penchant for trying to bark at the wheels moving on a hand truck while still holding a stick in his mouth always struck us as funny.

In Memoriam of Toby

It’s been hard getting used to doing things without Toby. He was such a big part of life here on the farm.

He followed us around everywhere, was very protective of me, and thought The Farmer was his best buddy.
