Mystery Of The Lost Tail Feathers

A mystery developed over the weekend. One morning Peepers showed up to eat her grain minus her tail feathers and chick.

What happened?

I don’t know if something attacked them, and she lost her tail feathers in the process, not to mention her chick, or just what.

Like I said, it’s a mystery!

I was throwing out feed one morning when there was a BIG commotion. The guineas were going berserk! I noticed a bunch all rushing to one place, and I saw something I'd heard about but never seen before - guineas chasing a snake. This was a good sized snake, and it was moving FAST! I couldn't focus the camera quick enough before it had moved ...

We’re living the country life and hobby farming in the southeastern U.S.

We presently have chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl. To keep all the other critters safe, there’s a Maremma sheepdog and English Shepherd dog here as well!

I love to take pictures so there are lots of images to go with the stories! Not just of the farm critters, but wildlife and nature shots too. Plus some pictures from far afield now and then, when we do a tad of traveling. So sit down and visit a spell!
