For some time we’ve had a couple of hens sitting in the same box.

This morning when I went out to do morning chores, this is what I saw:

Amazing! It took 2 hens to hatch out 2 little chicks. And they’re all continuing to hang out together, a regular little chicken family.

A chick, chick here, and a hen, hen there. Go figure.

When I went out yesterday to do the morning chores, I saw Team Mama Hens out with their two little chicks. They were ready for some nice scratch grain for breakfast. However, they did NOT like the roosters getting close to their little chicks, and fluffed up their feathers the way Mama Chickens are wont to do... It really is a hoot to see the ...

We’re living the country life and hobby farming in the southeastern U.S.

We presently have chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl. To keep all the other critters safe, there’s a Maremma sheepdog and English Shepherd dog here as well!

I love to take pictures so there are lots of images to go with the stories! Not just of the farm critters, but wildlife and nature shots too. Plus some pictures from far afield now and then, when we do a tad of traveling. So sit down and visit a spell!
