Another Rainy Day On The Farm . . .
Seems like we’ve been having a lot of rain lately. . .

. . . I think it’s time for some sunshine!

I guess it’s not just cold weather that makes llamas opt for the lazy eating method. Here it’s warmed up considerably, and our male llama, Samson, still has a taste for breakfast in bed.
Even the guinea looks like it’s thinking, “Man, is that one lazy llama!”
He’s just munching away at that hay while the guinea shakes its head at his lazy eating habits, then goes back to grazing guinea style.
I guess Samson figures, “It works for me!”
Okay, for a lot of people, T.G.I.F. is a big deal. I’ll admit for myself, since I’m at home all the time, it doesn’t make much difference. I just go from working online to housework. Come to think of it, I prefer Monday through Friday!
But for those of you who can’t wait for Friday, here it is!
And here’s hoping everyone has a GREAT weekend!
We have fowl running around all over the farm. Sometimes they even go off the farm, like this group of guineas on a neighbor’s driveway. . .
Around here the chickens don’t cross the road, so no need to ask “Why did the chicken cross the road?” They do, however, go into our woods sometimes.
On occasion, the Buff Orpington hens make a chorus line, ready to cackle their way into stardom . . .
While the guineas prefer a sportier racing venue, and are ready to start at the gate.
On cold days, the rooster grabs a perch and crows, sending up smoke signals.
Just about anywhere you look on the farm, you can see fowl play, because there are guineas and chickens everywhere!
We do things different in the country. If our true love sent us presents for 12 days of Christmas, we wouldn’t have any namby-pamby stuff like 12 Lords a leaping or 3 French hens. No sir. Here’s how WE’d do it:
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me. . .
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

seven turtles swimming,
six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .
eight goats for milking,
seven turtles swimming,
six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .
nine peacocks prancing,
eight goats for milking,
seven turtles swimming,
six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

ten roosters leaping,
nine peacocks prancing,
eight goats for milking,
seven turtles swimming,
six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
On the twelveth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me. . .

eleven chicks a peeping,
ten roosters leaping,
nine peacocks prancing,
eight goats for milking,
seven turtles swimming,
six hens a laying,
five canning rings,
four calling birds,
three frosty sheep,
two loving llamas,
and a Parrot in our pantry.
And THAT’s how we’d do presents for the 12 days of Christmas, country style.
