A pair of Canadian geese have taken up residence beside and in a neighbor’s pond. They come back every year. This year they have some baby geese, correctly known as goslings.
It’s a good thing they have the babies in the spring, because the pond doesn’t hold water very well, and by mid to late summer, is pretty puny looking.
But unlike our pond, it has the virtue of easily accessibility. The sides of our pond are steep, where this has gentle slopes.
That makes it easy for the little geese to forage among the grass.
Then when it’s time to take a swim, they can walk right into the water!
