Stick Tight Dogs: Time Doesn’t Change Everything!
You’ve heard the saying, “Time changes everything.” Well, I can’t dispute that’s often true, but there do seem to be some things that do NOT change.
For instance, stick tight dogs.
What are stick tight dogs you ask? No, I’m not talking about the dogs that hang close to you like Velcro because they have a need to be near their human.
Instead, I’m talking about that glorious time in autumn when you take the dogs for a walk and they come back looking like this:
Yes indeed, it’s that time of year when they get plastered with sticktights from Tick Trefoil. (If you’ve never seen the plant, check out our earlier post on stick tight dogs here.)
So why do I say time doesn’t always change things? Well, because the picture above is of Tasha, our Maremma sheepdog. And although she is now 2 years older and way bigger, well, some things remain the same as seen in the puppy picture from 2 years ago shown below:
It doesn’t matter how much time passes, when fluffy white dogs go tearing through the weeds in the fall, they come back out with their fur full of stick tight seed pods! What a mess!
And you wouldn’t believe how long it takes to comb all those little bits of stickiness out of long white fur. And speaking of time? Yeah, it takes a lot more TIME now, because that dog is way bigger than she was 2 years ago!
Just look at the pics side by side:
She’s a beautiful dog, but she’s also a beautiful mess, ha!
Guess I’ll just stick to the job of brushing and picking out those things, and take the time to get it done. 🙂
